Steam locomotive class  1-3-1 Gr. 680

 
Italian Steam Locomotive Gr. 680-037 of the  FS. The introduction into service in the early years of the century, of carriages with metal bodywork resulted in a consequential increase in the weight of trains, prompted by the Office of Studies of the FS to design a new type of locomotive, more powerful, and fulfilled the latest requirements. In 1907 the Officine Ernesto Breda produced the first locomotive-type "Prairie" with wheel alignment 2-6-2, on its first run it immediately showed its excellent qualities of speed. From this first prototype a subsequent number of 148 locomotives followed over the years, thus creating an impressive group of locomotives, which gave a decisive impetus to speed of convoys of important routes along the Milan-Rome-Florence-Naples axis.  The initial tender used was with three axels, but from 1914 onwards was replaced with a bogied 22 m² tender.
The model reproduced is that of the 680-037 in the period after 1914 with bogied water capable 22m² tender. The package includes, in addition to pre painted plastic parts and decorated with inscriptions of this period, it also includes all necessary to power and illuminate the model.  The braking system of the powered wheels has been well reproduced and the bogies fitted with suspension.
